Houston School Evacuated After Student Sets Off Fireworks in Cafeteria

A Houston high school was evacuated Tuesday after a prankster set off fireworks inside the cafeteria. At least four people were treated for minor injuries following the impromptu indoors fireworks display, which occurred at Jkeub Forest High School during lunch, police say. Harris County Fire Marshal Laurie Christensen says not all the injuries were the result of the fireworks being detonated; some students were injured in the mad rush to exit the school. All students were sent home early as officers from several local and federal agencies converged on the school to investigate. Officials have identified the student who set off the fireworks and expelled him, Christensen says. It's unclear if he'll face criminal charges. Do you think the kid that did this had any idea what a big deal it would end up being? Why have fireworks suddenly become a New Year's Eve thing?
